Owner of ditched silver service can reclaim pieces from sheriff

By John Howell
Panola County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Jason Chrestman is looking for the owner of eight pieces in a silver service found by a county worker on Pine Lodge Road.

Chrestman said the pieces were found in June when the worker first spotted one piece lying in a roadside ditch. When he moved closer, he found more pieces strewn nearby.

“We haven’t had any burglaries where any silverware was taken,” Chrestman said after checking sheriff’s department files. The Batesville Police Department also checked its files and found no missing items that match the description of the eight pieces of silverware.

Still, Chrestman thinks they were probably stolen or maybe got strewn during domestic upheaval. He said he would like to return them to their owner.

Two pieces are pictured. Anyone who wants to claim the items should call Chrestman at 662-609-8389 or the Panola County Sheriff’s Dept. at 662-563-6230. The caller will be asked to describe the other six items not featured in the photos.
