Workers were busy Thursday attempting to place concrete culvert sections together to make two large culverts that replace the metal culvert placed by Panola County many years back. The culvert’s failure during a recent deluge caused the earth underneath to give way with flooding occurring upstream and throughout the area of east Batesville and elsewhere in southeast Panola County. Weather permitting culverts should be in place later today and through traffic may be allowed as early as next week

Weather permitting culverts should be in place later today and through traffic may be allowed as early as next week according to Batesville Mayor Jerry Autrey.
