SP football to receive MaxPreps recognition

South Panola High School will be presented with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy as part of the 10th annual MaxPreps Football Tour of Champions.

South Panola finished No. 10 in the final rankings and is one of 50 schools being honored on this season’s tour. The presentation will be made during halftime of the boys’ varsity basketball game.
South Panola needed overtime to turn back previously once-beaten Oak Grove, 27-21, on Dec. 5, 2014 to capture the Mississippi Class 6A state championship – the school’s 11th.

With the victory, the Tigers completed a perfect 15-0 season, equalling those accomplishments from the 2010 and 2007 campaigns.

South Panola is one of 50 schools being honored on the 10th annual MaxPreps Football Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard. MaxPreps ranks more than 16,000 varsity high school football teams.

This marks the fourth time the school has taken part on the Tour of Champions as the Tigers were honored on the 2012 (ranked No. 85), 2010 (sixth) and 2009 (No. 18) tours.
