Basketball teams return to action following holiday break

North Panola was the only team playing basketball during the holiday break. Following a sweep of the Water Valley Blue Devils, December 19, the boys played in the North Pontotoc Kings of the Court tournament on December 20.
The Cougars lost to Corinth 72-47.
The Cougars participated in the Lewisburg Tournament December 29-31 and went 1-2. The lone win was the first game against Senatobia 53-48 on December 29. On December 30, the Cougars lost to Collierville, Tenn. in a close one, 65-63. Tuesday, December 31, the Cougars lost to Desoto Central 76-72.
North Panola closed out the holiday season with a nail biting one-point loss to rival Coldwater on the road, 56-55. They lost the last three games by a total of six points.
In the Lewisburg Tournament, the Lady Cougars also went 1-2. The Lady Cougars defeated Center Hill 48-25 on December 29, followed by two losses to Desoto Central 47-37 on December 30 and to host Lewisburg 43-40 on December 31. The Lady Cougars did defeat their Coldwater rival.
The Cougar teams resume regular season district action today at Charleston at 5 p.m.
South Panola
South Panola teams played Friday, December 19. The South Panola girls defeated Laurel 57-52. The South Panola boys lost to Calhoun City 73-57.
South Panola will be at Clarksdale tonight for non-district games beginning at 4 p.m. The Tigers will be home Friday to host Lake Cormorant in non-conference action starting at 5 p.m.
North Delta
North Delta basketball returns to district action today as they host Lee Academy beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday they play at Delta Academy in non-conference action beginning at 3 p.m.
Friday, North Delta will host Indianola in conference action beginning at 3 p.m.
