Mobile Food Pantry planned in Como December 16

Three screenings are planned to distribute vouchers for those who qualify to receive free food in a mobile food pantry distribution December 16.

The food giveaway will take place at Cistern Hill M.B. Church east of Como on Tuesday, December 16 from 1-3 p.m.

Participants must have been pre-screened and present vouchers  to obtain food that day.
Screenings will take place at Cistern Hill Church  Saturday, December 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and again on Wednesday, December 10 from 2-6 p.m.

A screening will also be held at Sardis United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

People who qualify for assistance programs like SNAP, SSI and TANF and live in the following zip codes are eligible: 38619, 38666, 38621 and 38665.

The sponsoring churches are: Sardis United Methodist, Cistern Hill, Como United Methodist, Como Chapel, Como Baptist, Hammond Hill Baptist, Sardis Baptist, Holy Innocents Episcopal, Wesley Chapel, Walton Chapel, Como Church of Christ, and Cherry Street Baptist Church.

Known as the North Panola Church Collaborative, the group works with the Mid-South Food Bank in Memphis to bring in a truckload of fresh produce, frozen meat, bakery goods, drinks and other food.

This is the sixth distribution this year.
