Batesville’s mayor and aldermen have scheduled an adjourned meeting this morning at 9.
The board decided to meet again following Tuesday’s regular meeting which ended in an executive session that lasted for about an hour and included discussion of a “personnel matter in the fire department,” assistant City Attorney Colmon Mitchell said.
The meeting this morning is also set for discussion of personnel matters in the fire department, according to Mitchell.
Discussion of Batesville Fire Department business follows an unanimous vote by aldermen on Friday, Oct. 3 to hire Tim Taylor as full-time fire chief.
Taylor had served as part-time chief since 1989 when aldermen made a decision in August to make the position full time and advertise for applicants. Taylor was selected from among 25 applicants.
The Oct. 3 meeting, conducted primarily in executive session, followed two meetings on Oct. 1 when the two final applicants were interviewed.
The Panolian is submitting to the city a public records request for documents related to the meeting Oct. 3 and afterward.
The adjourned meeting had originally been set for 7 p.m. Thursday before it was rescheduled.
