A Thursday afternoon bomb threat at South Panola High School disrupted classes for a short period while the school was evacuated and first responders cleared the building, according to Superintendent Tim Wilder.
It’s the first “bomb threat” of the year and Wilder warned that it’s a federal offense. Last year the district filed charges against two individuals who wrote on the bathroom wall about a bomb threat.
Those students are currently in the court system and not enrolled in South Panola Schools, according to Wilder, who stated this is a “very serious thing.”
Wilder noted that the evacuation and search is just precautionary. “We have to take these precautions.”
Law enforcement and school officials are still investigating according to Wilder. “Sadly, these things happen,” he said.
