Accused referred to grand jury

A Water Valley man now has fines over $1,000 after entering a guilty plea in Batesville Municipal Court held Wednesday, admitting he shoplifted a bag of M&Ms worth $1.24 from Walmart.

Mark Steven Reese, 702 Market Street, Water Valley, has total fines of $1,343 for failure to appear in court on July 14, switched tag, and shoplifting a bag of M&M’s.

Judge Bill McKenzie referred time Tyrone Davis, 321 Northway Dr., Clarksdale to the grand jury for shoplifting from Walmart (third offense) which is a felony.

Allison Hodges, 187 Morrow Rd., Courtland, was referred to the grand jury for felony malicious mischief. 

Eric Heafner, 187 Morrow Rd., Courtland, was referred to the grand jury for felony malicious mischief. The affiant for both Heafner and Hodges cases was Laura Hannaford.  

Eddie Webb, 63 Honduras Street, Memphis, was fined $1,198 for driving while license suspended, no tag and no proof of insurance.

Dewayne Armstead, 1424 Figgs Road, Batesville, entered the city’s work release program for 27 days in lieu of paying $1,529 for contempt of court, no drivers license and no proof of insurance.

Tracy King, 206 Tubbs Road, Apt. 27 day, Batesville, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting from Save A Lot. He was fined $331.

Candace Saulsberry, 335 Shamrock, Apt. 11, Batesville, entered the CWP for 20 days in lieu of paying $1,131 in fines for shoplifting from Walmart.

Lee Humphrey, 520 Chestnut St., Marks, entered a guilty plea to embezzlement-misdemeanor for taking three Nike shirts, fragrance colognes, jeans and other items worth $273 from Goody’s where he was employed. He was fined $333.

Hershel L. Winters, 200 Park St., Batesville, had a DUI-first and no proof of insurance case continued after the family told the judge they needed time to talk to a lawyer.

Cases set for trial

Charane Hewlette, 204 Lester St., Apt. C, Batesville, was found guilty of public drunk and fined $110 after a short testimony by the arresting officer and defendant. 

Kevin Butler, 114 Autumn ST., Batesville, was found guilty in his absence for domestic violence-simple assault.

Deborah Flanigan, 18536 Hwy. 315 West, Sardis, was represented by Attorney Kirk Willingham. 

She had a shoplifting charge from Walmart remanded to the file after an agreement.

Justin Armstead 5915 Eureka Rd., Courtland, was found guilty of shoplifting and fined $231.

Thomas Clayton, 586 North Loop Dr., Batesville, was found not guilty of simple assault by threat after a short trial.
