Sidney “Sid” Lambert
NEW ORLEANS–– Sidney “Sid” Lambert, 52, formerly of Batesville, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, in New Orleans.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lambert, born Oct. 15, 1961, in Memphis, to Troy Neal Lambert of Batesville and Susie Shurm Lambert of Hot Springs, Ark., was an assistant set director for local film productions in the New Orleans area.
Survivors along with this parents include: two sisters, Sandy Lambert McCraine of Vicksburg, Scottie Lambert Crossland of Hot Springs.
June Lee Morrow
BATESVILLE––June Lee Morrow, 81, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services were held Sunday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery. Hal Johnson and Terry Floyd officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
She was preceded in death by her husband Homer J. Morrow.
Survivors include: her daughter, Jackie Allen of Batesville; three sisters, Emma Conaway and Ruth Crosswhite of Batesville and Kitty Nelson of Courtland; one brother, Jerry Jaudon of Longview, Texas; five granchildren and one great-grandchild.
Ernest “Ernie” Munoz Jr.
BATESVILLE–– Ernest “Ernie” Munoz Jr., 72, died Thursday, June 26, 2014.Services were held Friday at Wells Funeral Home.
Munoz, born April 10, 1942, in Loredo, Texas, to the late Elida Lopez and Ernest Munoz Sr., worked for the Panola County Sheriff’s Department as a Work Release Supervisor. Before moving to Mississippi, he was “Dancing Harry” the mascot for the San Antonio Spurs.
Survivors include: his wife, Orfelinda Munoz of Weslaco, Texas; five sons, Ernest Mike Munoz, Ernest Munoz III, Ricky Munoz, all of San Antonio, Michael Anthony Munoz and Jason Munoz, both of Weslaco; two sisters, Rachel Jones and Rosetina Jero of San Antonio; seven brothers, Robert Munoz, Henry Munoz, Roy Munoz, Richard Munoz, Gilbert Munoz, Albert Munoz and Danny Munoz, all of San Antonio and a host of grandchildren.
Tony Lynn Nolan
BATESVILLE––Tony Lynn Nolan, 57, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services were held Saturday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Randell Boatner officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Nolan, born April 16, 1957, in Batesville, to the late Washington Alvis Nolan and Bobbie Ruth Goodwin Nolan, was a member of Faith of Baptist Church in Lambert and worked as a respiratory therapist for Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Pugh Nolan of Batesville; one daughter, Holly M. Nolan of Batesville; five brothers, Dale Nolan, David Nolan and Ronnie Nolan, all of Batesville, Bob Nolan of Hortense, Ga. and Stacy Nolan of Columbia.
Opal Janetta Rector
OCOEE, Fla.–– Opal Janetta Vest Rector, 75, formerly of Memphis, died June 25, 2014. She was the mother of Dwayne Vest of Batesville.
Services were held Monday at the Millington Chapel. Burial was in Memorial Gardens.
Survivors along with her son include: daughter, Donna Matracea of Ocoee, Fla. and Sharon West of Munford.; sons, Donald Vest and Michael Vest, both of Atoka; sister, Diane Crippen of Benton, Ark.; one brother, Verser Joe Swaite; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Lonnie L. Shaw
ENID–– Lonnie L. Shaw, 75, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Zannie Leland will officiate.
Shaw was born May 12, 1939, in Pope.
Survivors include: his wife, Lula Mae Shaw of Courtland; two sons, George Shaw and Larry Shaw, both of Courtland; one brother, Benny Greene and one sister, Jean Greene of Utica.
Ja’Breil Amir Thomas
COURTLAND–– Ja’Breil Amir Thomas, infant son of Breanna C. Thomas of Courtland, died June 26, 2014.
Graveside services were held Sunday at Johnson Chapel Church Cemetery. Tammy Herring officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.
