Margret Lucile Moore Beaver

BATESVILLE–Margret Lucile Moore Beaver, 59, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center. 

Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home with her son, Rev. Dale Beaver officiating. Burial will be in Curtis Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held today 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. 

Beaver, born May 19, 1955, in Belen, to the late Grady and Mary Ellar Goodnight Moore, worked for EMI Temporary Services and for the past four years, she was a line operator for Plaspros Inc.  

Survivors include: her husband of 43 years, Jerry Dale Beaver Sr. of Batesville; one son, Jerry Dale Beaver Jr. of Batesville; seven sisters, Frances Russell of Merigold, Christine Sellers of Lambert, Louise Smith of Courtland, Emma Jean Golden of Batesville, Linda Scheifer of Clinton, Bonnie Beaver of Crenshaw and Nancy Carpenter of Cleveland; four brothers, Grady Moore of Horn Lake, Jimmy Moore of Marks, Eugene Moore of Decatur, Ala. and Zeke Moore of Cashiers, NC and one grandchild.

The family asks anyone who would like to send memorials to please forward those to Immanuel Baptist Church, 3319 Curtis Rd., Batesville, Miss. 38606.

Joe Willie Jackson

COMO–Joe Willie Jackson, 61, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at North Oak Regional Medical Center. 

Services will be held Saturday at noon at Hickory Grove M.B. Church in Coldwater. Visiation will be held Friday from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

Jackson was a construction worker.

Survivors include: his wife, Cora Arlisa Jackson; two daughters, Tiara C. Harris and Katrina Garrett, both of Memphis; three sons, Andrew Franklin of Horn Lake, Jarvis L. Harris and Justin L. Harris, both of Como; six sisters, Barbara Hawkins, Ivory Jackson, Wanda Jackson, Patricia Conley and Verna Conley, all of Senatobia and Norcis Walker of Detroit, Mich.; three brothers, Curtis Jackson of Greenville, Johnny Ray Jackson and Joe Lee Conley, both of Senatobia; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Judy Gay Martin

OLIVE BRANCH–Judy Gay Martin, 69, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

A memorial service will be held by the family at a later time. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Martin, born May 25, 1945, in Nebraska, to the late Tom and Alice Thiesissen King, was a homemaker and a Baptist. 

Survivors include: two daughters, Pam O’Neal of Sarah and Kitty Guthmiller of Archer, Neb., three sisters, Karla Manhalter of Murdo, S.D. and Sherry Wheeler of Martin, S.D. and Lotus Herrington of Casper, Wyo.; two brothers, Kent King of Gillette, Wyo. and Gary King of Lincoln, Neb. three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Bobby Lamar McCullar

FAYETTEVILLE, NC–Bobby Lamar McCullar, 66, formerly of Batesville, died Wednesday, June 10, 2014, at Cape Fleur Medical Center.

McCullar was born March 31, 1948, to Inez McCullar of Batesville and the late Rufus McCullar. He was a 1966 graduate of South Panola High School and an Air Force veteran of the southeast Asia service during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his father, McCullar was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Elaine McCullar and a brother, Barney Wayne McCullar.

Survivors in addition to his mother include: his wife, Barbara; one daughter, Angela Hughes (Brian) of Union City, Tenn.; one brother, Billy McCullar of Natchez and two grandchildren, Alixia and Ariel Hughes.

The body was cremated. No memorial is planned.


Melissa Ann Oliver

SARDIS–Melissa Ann Oliver, 28, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. 

Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Miles Chapel Church in Sardis. Pastor Johnny McDonald will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Oliver, born Oct. 21, 1985, in Sardis, to Betty Oliver McKinney of Sardis and the late Clarence McKinney, was a member of Miles Chapel Church and graduated from North Panola High School.

Survivors along with her mother include: two sons, Timothy Harris and Martavious Harris, both of Sardis; six brothers, Jarvis Oliver, Matthew McKinney, Marcus Oliver and Sammy Oliver, all of Sardis and Michael Oliver of Batesville and Tyrone Oliver of Tupelo; five sisters, Tekendra Oliver, Felicia Oliver, Alice Oliver and Shirley Oliver, all of Sardis and Patricia Oliver of Batesville.

Annie Ruth Long

BATESVILLE–Annie Ruth Long, 88, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Dale Beaver will officiate. Dickins Funeral Home has charge. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Washington Irving Long and one son, Charles Irving Long.

Brian Keith Roach 

IUKA–Brian Keith Roach, 51, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, after an automobile accident in Iuka. He was the father of Andrea Cecerre of Pope and David Roach of Batesville.

A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bethel Cemetery in Enid. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Roach, born Aug. 31, 1963, in Kennett, Mo., to the late Sonny and Patsy Goodrich Roach, was of the Pentecostal faith and served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors along with his daughter and son, include: five sisters, Carla Willis of Pope, Donna Garrison, Susan Wiggins and Crystal Taylor, all of Oakland and Rebecca McGee of Duck Hill and five grandchildren.


Harvey Shaw Sr.

POPE––Harvey Shaw Sr., 87, died Sunday, June 8, 2014, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Olive Ray M.B. Church. Rev. L.C. Smith will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Olive Ray Church Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.

Shaw, born March 17, 1927, in Batesville, to the late John Western Shaw and Bertha Henderson, was a member of Olive Ray M.B. Church where he served as chief usher, deacon and trustee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a retired factory worker for Tucker Manufacturing. 

Survivors include: his wife, Clara Shaw of Pope; four sons, Harvey Shaw Jr., Jimmie Shaw, James Willie Shaw and John Shaw, all of Batesville; one daughter, Mary Lois Shaw of Pope; four brothers, John Dillon Shaw of Phoenix, Ariz, Artis Shaw of Greenville, Western Shaw of Milwaukee, Wis. and Hugh Shaw of Sacramento, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.


Madison Mackenzie Wallace

BATESVILLE–Madison Mackenzie Wallace, the newborn baby of Martize Wallace and Alantra Wallace, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Graveside services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church Cemetery. Rev. Jerome Battle will officiate. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.

Survivors along with her parents include: two brothers, Marterrion Wallace and Martavious Wallace, both of Batesville and grandparents, Tina Brown, Sadie Wallace, Kevin Grover, all of Batesville and Barry Matthews of Greenwood.

William Allen Wiese

SARDIS––William Allen Wiese, 77, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at his residence. 

Services were held Saturday at Sardis Church of Christ.  Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Batesville. Ray Nowell Funeral Home had charge.  

Wiese, born to the late William Henry Wiese and Emmarhetta Frazee Wiese, was member of Church of Christ and served as a minister for Churches of Christ in Arkansas and Mississippi and served as an Elder for Sardis Church of Christ. He was a radio engineer and announcer for 40 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Survivors include: his wife of 53, Jan Wiese of Sardis; two daughters, Allena Wiese of Sardis and Tammy Robertson of Lebanon, Tenn.; two sisters, Florence Smith of Palmyra, Ill. and Helen Wiese of Carlinville, Ill.; one brother, Joseph Wiese of Lincoln, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
