C Spire and new Batesville marketing manager Nick Williams are hosting tonight a See the Speed event at the 167 Lakewood Drive store, offering light snacks, refreshments and door prizes from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Guests will see demonstrations of the speed of ultra-high-speed fiber optic Internet with a full Fiber to the Home demonstration that C Spire plans to install in Batesville homes when a sufficient number of householders have pre-registered for the service.
The 1 Gigabit (Gbps) per second service offered is up to 100 times faster than average broadband. C Spire introduced last September an innovative competition for Mississippi cites to be first to bring the fiber optic service to homes. Batesville was one of nine cities selected from among 33 contenders.
New Batesville market manager Williams comes to Batesville from C Spire’s Grenada store.
“I’m so happy to be in Batesville; this is home to me,” said Williams, who grew up in the Teasdale community. A 1996 graduate of Strider Academy, Williams is married to the former Kasey Grantham of Cascilla. They are parents of two children.
