Tigers rebound with two victories Saturday 4/15/2014

After dropping a tough 4-2 decision to Hernando the night before, South Panola came away with a pair of big wins on the road Saturday. The Tigers began their day with a 12-1 rout of Water Valley then continued on to Lafayette County where they pulled out a wild 10-9 victory in 11 innings.
South Panola (12-10) took a 6-3 lead into the sixth inning before the Commodores struck for four runs to surge ahead 7-6. The Tigers sent the game into extra innings with a run in the seventh. The score remained tied until the 10th when South Panola pushed across two runs to take a 9-7 advantage. Lafayette County would then answer with two runs of its own to knot the contest yet again.
The Tigers finally added the winning run in top of the 11th.
Rip Kirk tossed 4.2 innings to pick up the win in relief while Austin Towles earned the save. Macen McGee started the game and went 5.1 innings, giving up eight hits while walking five and striking out six. Chase Durham allowed two runs on a pair of hits in the sixth while failing to record a out.
South Panola collected 13 hits in the game with Landon Fullilove leading the way with three singles and one RBI. Dashawn Lindsay added a pair of singles and two stolen bases. Adam Cook registered a double and single while Kirk, Mason Wilkerson, Jesse Pearson, Morgan Tubbs and Carter Avan all provided singles.
South Panola will close out district play today at Grenada before hosting Lake Comorant Thursday. First pitch for both games is set to begin at 6 p.m.
