A town forum is planned tonight at 6 at the Batesville Civic Center to inform residents about media provider C Spire’s “Get Fiber First Challenge,” in which Batesville is a finalist.

C Spire CEO Hu Meena issued a call to action in September for towns and cities to tell why they need, want and will benefit from the future opportunities and potential of C Spire’s 1 Gig Fiber to Home service. Nine Mississippi cities were selected finalists.

The project is set to provide homes with Internet and digital television connections that are 100 times faster than the national average.

There will be free t-shirts, door hangers and banners at tonight’s forum.
