CHARLESTON– Jo Ann Garner, 78, died Thursday, September 26, 2013, in Batesville.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Bethel Cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home had charge.
Garner, born to the late Walton C. Hall and Vera Best Hall, was a member of Tower Grove Baptist Church in St. Louis, Mo. and she was a retired registered nurse.
Survivors include: her sister, Vera Mae Ashmore of Batesville.
BATESVILLE — Sally Morphis, age 81, wife to Ed Morphis, died Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced once they become available.
BATESVILLE — Ouida Mae Ware Pollock, 80, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Golden Living Nursing Home in Batesville.
Services were held Wednesday, September 18 at Wells Funeral Home with burial in Forrest Memorial Park. Reverend Al Mullan officiated.Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Pollock was born June 29, 1933 in Vaiden, to the late Jacob Lawrence and Sabie Pinkston Ware, was a retired cook for the Manimark Corporation in Michigan and was a member of Enon Baptist Church.
She preceded in death by her son, Jefferson Lawrence “Larry” Pollock.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Jefferson Burl Pollock of Batesville; four daughters, Beverly Pollock Buchannan of Adrian, Mich., Conchetta Pollock Castle of Batesville, Deborah Pollock Stokes of Milan, Mich., Theresa Pollock of Batesville; son, Bruce Pollock of Whitehills, Ariz.; sister, Betty Jean Ware Guest of Germantown; brother, Tony Glenn Ware of Batesville; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

COMO — Syliva Lynn Scruggs, 67, died Friday, September 27, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Sardis Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home with burial following in Cold Springs Cemetery. Ray Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
Scruggs was born on September 19, 1946 in Batesville, to The Late Rayford Wolfe and Lena Geeslin Wolfe. She served as a medical secretary and ward clerk for North Panola Hospital for many years. Mrs. Scruggs is survived by her husband of 51 years, Barney Scruggs of Como; one daughter, Nichole Herl of Coldwater; two sons, Keith Scruggs of Oxford, and Brad Scruggs of Jackson, Tenn.; two sisters, Sue Hill of Huntsville, Ala. and Freida Hankins of Oxford; three brothers, Kenneth Wolfe of Sardis, Gene Wolfe of Batesville, and Freddie Wolfe of Grenada; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were held Saturday at Elam Baptist Church in Coffeeville. Burial was in Elam Cemetery with Rev. Bernette Fielder officiating. Garner Harper Funeral Home had charge.
He was born on June 22, 1953 in Mississippi to the late Ed Vardaman Ware and the late Mary Burks Ware. He was retired from Wonder Bread Company where he worked for 40 years. He was a member of Elam Baptist Church in Coffeeville and also served as a Deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Hadorn Ware, of Grenada; a daughter, Angela Ware Bryant, of Yazoo City; two sons, Steve Glen Ware, of Grenada; and Tony Ware of Coffeeville; brothers, E.V. Ware of Batesville; Kenneth Ware of Nesbit; Jimmy Dale Ware of Sardis; and sisters, Marilyn Daly of Georgia; Katherine Brower of Sardis; Margie Grant of Grenada; Judy Gregg of Batesville; and Betty Jean Austin of Crowder; and nine grandchildren.
