Ira Crook Jr.

HATLEY – Ira T. Crook Jr., 92, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at Oak Tree Manor. He was the stepfather of Marsha Wren of Batesville.

Funeral services were held July 17 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Sammy Washburn and Bro. Charles Coggins officiating. Burial followed in Hatley Cemetery.

He was born July 25, 1920, in Amory, to the late Ira T. Crook Sr. and Mary Parchman Crook. He graduated from Amory High School, class of 1938.

On April 6, 1941, he married Mary Nell Rodgers, who died on Feb. 17, 1981. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and was a member of the American Legion.

On March 26, 1982, he married Mary Fay Cox Ritter.

He was a farmer and cattleman. He was a member of Hatley United Methodist Church for many years. After the church closed, he attended Smithville United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed gardening and using his mechanic talents to work on his equipment.

In addition to Mrs. Wren, he is survived by his wife, Mary Fay Cox Ritter Crook of Hatley; his son, Ira T. “Tom” Crook III  of Hatley; his stepson, Van Ritter of Amory; grandchildren, Thomas Christopher Crook of Dallas, William Kevin Crook of Amory and Richard Cory Crook of Atlanta, Amy Easter of Brandon, Sam Ritter of Saltillo, Daniel Wren of Oxford, Rebekah Gray of Batesville, Sarah Brashier of Tupelo and Elisabeth Carney of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Jillian Reese Crook and Kaleb Thomas Crook of Amory; and 16 other great-grandchildren.
Memorials may sent to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 535, Amory, MS 38821 or to a charity of choice.

John Henry Holloway

MEMPHIS – John Henry Holloway, 66, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Services will be held Saturday, July 20, at 1 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel in Sardis. Burial will be in Mt. Level Cemetery in Como. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.
Holloway, born Dec. 9, 1946, to Lena Mae Hunt, attended school in Panola County. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include: two daughters, Surkilla Lewis and Jamisha Holloway, both of Memphis; four sons, Curtis Williams, Nathan Jackson, Henry Lee Holloway and Justin Holloway, all of Memphis and one sister Gensie Roberson of Sardis.

Arthur Neal Martin

SARDIS – Arthur Neal Martin, 59, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at his residence.

Memorial services were held Thursday at Dickins Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Snyder officiated.  Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Martin, born May 14, 1954, in Memphis, to the late Lingle Arthur Martin and Clarice Winnie Garner Martin, worked as a truck driver.

Survivors include: one daughter, Amanda Rose Martin of Batesville; one sister, Linda Johnson of Memphis and one brother, Johnny Martin of Memphis.

Randy Morris Moore

TUPELO – Randy Morris Moore, 58, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the Veterans Hospital in Memphis.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held today 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home who has charge of arrangements.

Moore was born in Batesville to the late Eugene Moore and the late Evelyn Hitchcok and worked as a carpenter.

Survivors include: one daughter, Karry Anderson of Crowder; two sons, Joshua Moore of Tupelo and Jay Weaver of Jackson; two brothers, Deward Moore of Georgia and Mike Moore of Jackson and six grandchildren.
