Auctioneer Mark Lipscomb found a lively crowd of bidders at the Batesville Lions Club Saturday night for a benefit for Will Lawrence. Friends of Lawrence, who was critically injured in a vehicle accident a few weeks ago, raised about $106,000 to help defray his medical and other expenses. The Panolian photo by John Howell
All hands and former hands were on deck Wednesday, including family, city officials, workers and friends, when retiring City Clerk Laura Herron (third from left) was honored with a reception and gifts for her years of service to the City of Batesville. Among those on hand were husband Pat Herron (far right) Mayor Jerry Autrey, (far left) and former mayor Bobby Baker who accused Autrey of wearing his jacket. Autrey claimed he found it in closet following the former mayor’s retirement and stated,
