Lady Tigers crush Oxford in summer opener Tuesday

The South Panola Lady Tiger fastpitch softball team kicked off the first of a 10-game summer season Monday at home hosting Oxford.

The Lady Tigers shut out the Lady Chargers 9-0 in the first game and beat them 13-1 in the second one.

Sydney Morgan hit a two-run homer in bottom of the third in the first game to highlight that victory.

Both games were credited to junior pitcher Nicole Fullilove even though others saw action on the mound.

In the first game the Lady Tigers were up 5-0 in the bottom of the second and Fullilove had struck out four before seventh grader Ali  Cummins came to the mound.

Scoring runs for South Panola were Chloe Morgan, Mallory Myers, Haley Reid, Fullilove, Amber Helmes, Lena Grace Franklin, Madison Morgan and Sydney Morgan.

In the second game the Lady Tigers crushed Oxford with a trio of pitchers on the mound. Fullilove started the game. Darbi Smith came in relief in the top of the third and Megan McGee finished the game in the fourth.

Fullilove faced nine batters, striking out six in two innings. McGee sat down two of three at bat.
Lady Tiger head coach Ashleigh Hicks substituted several younger players in the second game.
The Lady Tigers jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the bottom of the first with two runs by Chloe Morgan and one each by Sydney Morgan, Madison Collier, Haley Reid, Morgan Parker, Moudy and Terri Tidwell.

Oxford scored its only run in top of the third giving the Lady Tigers an 8-1 lead.

Scoring runs for South Panola were McGee, Taylor Utz, Karrah Hudson, Sydney Morgan and Reid.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Oxford on June 18 for a rematch with games at 5 and 7 p.m.
