GRENADA – William Boyd, 94, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Grenada Lake Medical Center.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Massey Grove M.B. Church in Oakland. Rev. Lloyd V. Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Tillatobia. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Boyd, born January 24, 1919, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late William Andrew and the late Molly Baltimore, was a retired dock foreman at Hughes and Hatcher. He was an usher and secretary of the Usher Board.
Survivors include: one son, William C. Boyd of Atlanta; two grandsons, Terence R. Boyd of Duluth, Ga. and William Boyd Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pa
MEMPHIS – Danny C. Chrestman, 74, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis.
Services were held Saturday, May 4, at Wells Funeral Home. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Chrestman was born on December 14, 1938 to Louise O’Bannon and J. R. Rayford Chrestman in Batesville. He worked for Linkous Construction Company out of Memphis.
Survivors include: his loving companion, Ann Arbogast of Memphis; one daughter, Lisa Jean Alsbury of Joilet, Ill.; a sister, Jeannie Hollinger of Standardsville, Va., and three brothers, David Chrestman of Hernando, John Chrestman and Joel Chrestman, both of Batesville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
CROWDER – Dwight Brock Eads, 69, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at VA Medical Center in Memphis.
Services were held Wednesday at Crowder Assembly of God Church. Rev. Murphy Eubanks officiated.
Burial was in Center Hill Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Eads, born April 30, 1944, in Panola, to the late Luther R. Eads and Mary Belle Houston Eads, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Crowder Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, April Eads of Hernando; five sisters, Louise Aldridge of Crowder, Georgia Burks, Ophelia Silis, Joyce Harding, all of Southaven, Terisa Paynter of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; three brothers, Thomas “Bunk” Eads and Billy Eads, both of Crowder and Bobby Eads of Detroit and three grandchildren.
BENTON – Adine Ketchum Hearst Goodwin, 78, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at her residence.
Services were held Saturday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home. Burial was in Benton Baptist Church Cemetery. Stricklin King Funeral Home had charge.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Hearst, and great-granddaughter, Danielle Griffin.
Goodwin, born May 10, 1934, to the late Santie and Buck Ketchum, was a member of Benton Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, James Goodwin; daughters, Brenda Griffin of Millbrook, Ala., Cheryl Carr of Madison, Debbie Braswell of Birmingham, Ala. and Sheila Bridges of Yazoo City; stepsons, Kenny Goodwin of Senatobia, Lee Goodwin of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
The family has asked that memorials be made to Benton Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
CRENSHAW – Etherine Lark, 74, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Desoto.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Springhill M.B. Church Cemetery in Strayhorn. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.
Lark was a retired Headstart teacher.
Survivors include: two daughters, Juanita Lark of Memphis and Jacqueline Lark of Horn Lake; two sons, Terry Lark of Memphis and Richard Lark of Crenshaw; three sisters, Ruthie Sanders of Memphis, Catherine Phipps of Crenshaw and Christine Clenn of Coldwater; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
