Patrick Scruggs, 34, of 2173 Liberty Hill Road,  was killed in an auto accident Tuesday night less than two miles from where his brother died in a similar wreck last spring.

Sheriff Dennis Darby said Scruggs evidently lost control while coming around a curve on Eureka Road striking a tree just before coming to rest just east of Fowler Road. He was the only person involved in the one vehicle accident, similar to the accident that killed his brother, Randy Alexander, also on Eureka Road between Goodhope and Crouch Roads in April of 2012.

Darby, reading from Deputy Chuck Tucker’s accident report, stated that the front airbag deployed and the driver was apparently not wearing a seatbelt. The sheriff’s department received the call at 9:28 p.m. Tuesday according to Darby.
