ND duo chosen for All-Star game

North Delta Lady Wave senior Sharla Shea Darby, along with boys and girls basketball head coach Phil Douglas, had been selected to participate in the MAIS Academy AA-AAA All-Star game set for March 8 at Jackson Prep.

A two-time All-District selection, Darby averaged 10 points per game while hitting 40 percent from beyond the three-point line this season as the Lady Waves finished 16-16 on the year.

Darby was named the team’s sixth man award winner last season to help guide North Delta to a 30-10 record and a State AA tournament appearance.

Darby was also selected the squads ‘Gym Rat’ award winner all three years of varsity and two years of junior high while leading North Delta to a 70-5 record and three district championships along the way.
Douglas meanwhile will serve as boys All-Star coach after leading North Delta to the North AA State playoffs this past season.

Douglas’ storied career includes being named Coach-of-the-Year 12 times in both public and private schools while having compiled 654 wins along the way.

Douglas was named Class 3A  girls Coach-of-the-Year at Independence High School in 2002 and guided the North 3A girls All-Star team the following season.
