Hilda Mae Austin

ENID – Hilda Mae Austin, 78, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at her daughter’s residence in Enid.
Services were held Saturday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Kilgore officiated. Burial was in Crowder Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Austin, born on July 7, 1934, in Lambert, to Orna Pearl Murphree and Walter Lee Stroup, was a factory worker and a member of Crowder Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Austin and one son, Steve Austin.

Survivors include: four daughters, Debbie Cole of Courtland, Pam Pelts of Pope, Peggy Hawkins of Enid, Abigail Brown of Lambert and Marilyn Griffin of Courtland; one sister, Rubenia Crawley of Sardis; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Esther “Fay” E. Forester

EUPORA – Esther “Fay” E. Forester, 80, died Thursday, January 17, 2013.

Services were held Monday at Oliver Funeral Home. Burial was in the Old Cumberland Cemetery in Eupora. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Born July 22, 1932, to the late Charlie Andrew and Dovie White Earnest in Cumberland,  she was retired from Bellsouth Telephone Company where she worked wiring phones. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Forester Jr.

Survivors include one brother, Charlest Earnest of Dobson, N.C.

Robert P. Hall

BATESVILLE – Robert P. Hall, 88, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were held Friday at Pharsalia Baptist Church. Rev. Ray Legge officiated. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Hall, born Dec. 1, 1924, to Hugh Thomas and Viola May Peiffer Hall, served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was a member of Pharsalia Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter: Bobbie Bursick of Woodland, Texas; stepdaughter, Vivian Adams of Zionville, N.C.; stepsons, Albert Moore of Enid, Robert Moore of Lake Cormorant and George Moore of Marco Island, Fla.; one grandchild and eight step-grandchildren.

Edgar Gaal Long

SARDIS – Edgar Gaal Long, 76, died Saturday, January, 19, 2013, at his residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ray Nowell Funeral Home in Sardis. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Ray Nowell Funeral Home has charge.

Long, born to the late David Newell Long and Vanda Sparks Long, was a U.S. Army veteran and a third degree Master Mason. He was the owner of Long’s Store near Sardis since 1970.

Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Margaret Latham Long; two daughters, Vicki Long and Charlotte Long Braxton; one son, Gaal Long Jr., all of Sardis; four sisters, Beverly White of Horn Lake, Brenda Stokes of Jackson and Marca Simmerman and Renya Wolfe, both  of Sardis; one granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.

Robert “Kit” Christopher McArthur

SARDIS –Robert “Kit” Christopher McArthur, 55, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013.

Services were held Saturday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Brad Jones officiated.

McArthur, born Jan. 7, 1957, to Robert and Martha Willingham McArthur in Marks, was a construction worker and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include: two daughters, Ashley McArthur Stevens of Senatobia and Elizabeth Meirelles of Portsmouth, Va.; two sons, Justin McArthur of Macon, Tenn. and Matthew Forest Survillo of Palo Alto, Calif.; one sister, Dayle McArthur Tenhet of London, Ky. and two grandchildren.

Dewey Edward Walls

MARKS – Dewey Edward Walls, 74, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013.

Services were held Friday at West Marks Baptist Church. Burial was in Crowder Cemetery. Chris Walls officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Walls, born May 21, 1938, was a member of Blue Lake Baptist Church and a retired farmer.

Survivors include: one brother, Thomas Walls of Batesville; sisters, Ernestine Cooper, Lois Fortner, Mary Ann Thompson and Carol Martin, all of Batesville.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude or the Humane Society.

Sarah Pauline Wimberly

MARKS – Sarah Pauline White Wimberly, 90, died Thursday, January, 17, 2013, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were held Sunday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery. Rev. Phillip Bumpers officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Wimberly, born in Tillatoba, on July 9, 1922, to Homer Arvil and Myrtle Helmes White, was a member of the Church of Nazarene. She was a retired hospital ward clerk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Eugene Wimberly Sr.

Survivors include: three daughters, Jackie Purdy of Pascagoula, Bobbie Rodgers of Batesville and Brenda Brown of Winona; one son, Ralph Wimberly of Sledge; one sister, Mittylene Goodwin; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
