Gertrude Conley

BATESVILLE – Gertrude Conley, 66, died Friday, November 23, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services will be held Saturday, December 1, at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle M.B. Church in Belen with burial in Lambert Community Cemetery. British Conley will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Conley was born January 8, 1946, in Marks to William Conley Sr. and Daisy Moses Conley. She was a homemaker and member of West Camp M.B. Church in Batesville.

Survivors include two daughters, Gemekia Conley Johnson of Batesville and Bridget Conley Jones of Horn Lake; two sons, British Conley of Batesville and Don Conley of Minneapolis, Minn.; three sisters, Flora Smith and Dorothy Conley, both of Lambert and Annie Williams of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, William Conley, Jr. of Memphis and Abraham Lewis of Wet Helena, Ark. and seven grandchildren.


Ronnie R. “Ronnie” Forbess

ENID – Ronald R. “Ronnie” Forbess, 60, died Saturday, November 24, 2012.

Services were held Tuesday at Ray Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Senatobia. Burial was in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marianne Forbess.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Lynn Forbess of Enid; one step-daughter, Michele Bump of Senatobia; two step-sons, Mark Lackey of Brownsville, Tenn. and Deron Lackey of Senatobia; his father, Earl Forbess of Senatobia; two brothers, Joe Forbess of Southaven and J.D. Forbess of Senatobia; four grandchildren, Taylor Wade, Danielle Lackey, Lauren Lackey and Megan Tankersley and one great-grandchild, Alisa Wade.


Randy M. Lannett

BUTLER — Randy M. Lannet, 45, died Saturday, November 24, 2012, at DeKalb Health in Auburn.
Services were held Thursday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, Waterloo, with Jess Jessup officiating.

Burial was in Circle Hill Cemetery in Angola.

Lannett,  born March 5, 1967, in Chicago, Ill., was a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Connie (Sutherland) Shields and Ardis Shields.

Surviving are his wife, Tina Lannet of Butler; his father, Walter Lannet of Michigan; a son, Randy Lannet of Angola; two daughters, Ruby Mayo of Senatobia, and Tabitha Lannet of Jackson, Mich.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Ronnie Lannet of Sardis, and Rickey Lannet of Waterloo; three stepbrothers, Thurman Shields, Gene Shields and Wayne Hitchcock, all of Chicago; and a stepsister, Angel Tackett of Pikeville, Ky.

Memorials may be made to Feller and Clark Funeral Home.


Annie Mae Pettis

MEMPHIS – Annie Mae Pettis, 74, formerly of Como, died Tuesday,  November 20, 2012, at Methodist Hospital South in Memphis.

Services will be held Saturday, December 1, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah CME Church in Como, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Turner of Midwest City, Okla., and Ella Louise Horton of Memphis; six step-daughters, Bobby Jackson, Cora L. Thomas, Lee Ola Wheatley, all of Como, Debbie D. Ellis of Boston, Mass., Irene Davis and Earlean Howell, both of Senatobia; two sons, Willie James Danner of Independence and Luther Danner of Memphis; three stepsons, Ruffin Pettis, Jr. of Boston, Mass., Joe Pettis of San Diego, Calif., and Samuel P. Pettis of Forrest City, Ark.; three sisters, Lucille Hamilton of Sardis,  Eliza Ann Thomas of Muncie, Ind., and Mary Lou of Midwest City, Okla.; two brothers, Eddie Danner of Kansas City, Kansas and Jessie Hampston of Columbus, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.


Angela Denise Edmond Watson

BATESVILLE – Angela Denise Edmond Watson, 41, died Friday, November 23, 2012, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Daniel Temple Church of God in Calhoun City. William David Hill will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Watson, born Dec. 15, 1970,  to Luther Guy Taylor and the late Annie Lee Edmond, was a member of Daniel Temple C.O.G. in Calhoun.

Survivors include: her husband, Joe Watson of Batesville; her father, Luther Guy Taylor of Lambert and one sister, Tammy Gaston of Holly Springs.


Timothy Patton Russell

OXFORD — Timothy Patton Russell, 48, formerly of Sardis, died Saturday, November 24, 2012, at his residence.

Services were held Wednesday at Coleman Funeral Home. Randy Hope officiated. Burial was in the Owens Cemetery in Abbeville. Coleman Funeral Home had charge.

 He was employed with the University of Mississippi as a plumber. Mr. Russell was also a welder and a master mechanic.  He was a member of Yellow Leaf Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Tracie Bradley Russell of Oxford; his parents, Lawrence “Buddy” and Ann Russell of Abbeville; a daughter, Tiffany Russell Kelley of Oxford; two sons, Joshua Patton Russell of Tylertown and William Tate Russell of Oxford; one sister, Cathy Russell Lute of Bartlett, Tenn.; two brothers, Paul Edward Russell and John Wayne Russell both of Abbeville; five grandchildren.


Cora Lee Wadlington

OXFORD – Cora Lee Wadlington, 81, died November 19. Services were held Monday at Clear Creek M.B. Church in Oxford. Rev. Larry Wadlington officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home had charge.


Lucille Ward

SARDIS–Lucille Ward, 99, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.
 She was a native of Panolia County and the widow of Brown Ward. She was a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sardis.

Services were held Saturday at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. Cedric Jackson officiated.

Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Sardis had charge.


Obelia R. Ward

SARDIS– Obelia R. Ward, 81, died November 25, 2012.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at North Panola High School. Rev. Willie Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Braham Chapel Cemetery in Como. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.

Survivors include: five daughters, Beatrice W. Washington, Ida B. Ward, Annie R. Ward, all of Sardis, Ora W. Lockett and Arester Young, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; eight sons, Presley Ward and Tom Ward, both of Milwaukee, Tim Ward, Ketry Ward, Earnest Ward, Larry Ward, Archester Ward, all of Sardis and Daryl Ward of Horn Lake; two sisters, Queen Westmoreland of Memphis and Brenda Reese of Como; two brothers, Jessie Edward of Gary, Ind. and Willie B. Pettis
