BATESVILLE – Harold Deen Berry, 79, died Thursday, November 15, 2012, at his residence.

Services were held yesterday at Hollywood Baptist Church in Sledge. Rev. Roy Hartzell officiated. Burial was in Longtown Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Berry, born on June 23, 1933 in East Prairie, Mo., to Ralph Lee Berry and Marie Huffman Berry, joined the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 19  and served with the 1st Division Headquarters Battalion in Inchon, Korea. He was previously employed by Pinkerton Security, Guardsmark, and right before his retirement, he was farm manager for Lipscomb Farms in Nesbit He was an active member of Hollywood Baptist Church in Sledge and most recently served as Quitman County Court Baliff. He was a member of The American Legion in Doniphan, Mo. and a board member of the South Lake Water Association.

He was preceded in death by a son, Harold Deen Berry Jr.

Survivors include: his wife of 32 years, Joyce Johnson Berry of Crenshaw; two sons, Jim Berry of Saint Peters, Mo., Russell Sinclair of Hernando; three daughters, Bonnie Sinclair of Crenshaw, Mary Cummins of Sarah and Carrie Dinwidd of Lakeland, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to Hollywood Baptist Church or a charity of the donors choice.

BATESVILLE – Ima Jean Pettit, 61, died Friday, November, 16, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis.

Services were held Sunday at Dickins Funeral Home with burial in Crowder Cemetery. Rev. Terry Floyd officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Pettit, born Feb. 1951, in Portageville, Mo., to the late Jim Hollingsworth and Nannie Barham Hollingsworth, was a homemaker and a member of Crowder Assembly of God.

Survivors include: her husband, Duane Pettit of Batesville; one daughter, Sheila Pettit Ray of Batesville; one son, Jason Duane Pettit of Batesville; three sisters, Ina May Lambert of Marks, Nannie Johnson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Norma Jean Hollins of Osceola, Ark.; two brothers, Neely Hollingsworth of Germantown and Roy Hollins of Osceola, Ark. and nine grandchildren.
