Judge McKenzie told a defendant to stay away from an affiant or he would serve six months in jail after a trial during Batesville Municipal Court held Wednesday.
Antonio Crump, 112 Dora St., Batesville, was found guilty of two counts of domestic violence-simple assault against Shameika Robinson.
Officer Kelvin Morgan was an affiant also for the trial and a witness to testify on her behalf.
Officer Justin Maples stood between the defendant’s table and the affiants so the defendant could not try to talk to the affiant who was subpoenaed to court for the trial, though the defendant still talked around the officer telling Robinson, “Just tell the truth.”
Photos were entered into evidence of Robinson’s injuries after testimony that Crump broke the window in her car trying to pull her out and cause harm in the August incident.
Crump was also charged with hitting her in the lip in June.
Crump admitted to hitting her in the lip in June, but said he was only trying to pull the window down and didn’t touch her during the incident in August.
The affiant and defendant have a child together.
The judge asked if there was someone in the family who could mediate between them as far as visitation with the child.
Crump told the judge his sister could help.
“Are you going back to this man?” McKenzie asked Robinson.
“I need to know your intentions because the court can’t babysit families,” McKenzie added.
Crump was fined $808 and told to stay away from Robinson.
