Deadline looming to register to vote in November election

The last day to register to vote in the November 6 general election is Saturday, October 6 according to Panola County Election Commission Chairman Ronald “Runt” McMinn.

Persons needing to register should go to the Circuit Clerk’s offices in the Batesville or Sardis courthouses, he added.

“If a voter has changed address since they last voted, they need to go by the Circuit Clerk’s office and make a change of address,” McMinn advised.

The retiring commission chairman said he is concerned about too many people having to vote affidavit ballots on election day because they have been put on an inactive list due to the length of time since they last voted.

“If a voter has not voted in recent years they should contact the Circuit Clerk’s Office to check their voting status,” he recommended.
