Letter to the editor

Raises ‘bad economics,’ writer says

Our county supervisors voted to increase our budget and give county workers a $75 a month raise. City aldermen also voted to increase our budget and give city workers a 3 percent raise.

This is bad economics. We have high unemployment, a depressed economy, high cost of living and lots of bankruptcy and low wages. You would think our elected officials would know this. The perfect storm is brewing.

Kelly Morris is my county supervisor. Stan Harrison is my city alderman. Both are honorable and good businessmen, but as politicians they take money from the poor and give it to the rich. They have lost my vote, my family’s votes and my friends’ votes.

We cannot pay a penny more in new taxes. Poor people are making less than $10 an hour, have no health insurance, no benefits and no retirement.

If you are poor or tax poor, join me by calling your elected officials. Politicians aren’t scared of one voter, but they are scared of 10,000 angry voters. Together we move mountains. Together we can stop being a slave to the lender. Together we can win because the poor outnumber government workers 99 percent to 1 percent.

Just do it!
