Tigers pound Gulfport

After struggle to find the end zone for the first two games, the Tiger offense found the white chalk four times in a 34-6 rout of the Gulport Admirals.

The South Panola Tigers improved to 2-1 after taking care of business early in the first quarter against Gulfport, scoring three touchdowns and holding the Admirals to one. At the end of the first quarter the Tigers had a 21-6 lead and that score held until the third quarter.

The Tigers added another touchdown in the third and fourth quarter.

The Admirals ended the game with 171 total yards with 74 rushing and 97 in the air. They fumbled four times, losing three of them.

The Tigers dominated the game with 384 total yards with 185 rushing and 199 passing.

South Panola running back Darrell Henderson scored two touchdowns on runs of 37 and 40. Junior quarterback Rip Kirk connected with Jaylen Lee on a 30-yard touchdown pass and Ryan Lee scored from five yards out.

Tiger cornerback Dashawn Lindsay put the icing on the cake, intercepting Chandler Malley’s pass returning it 51 yards for the last score of the night.

Christian Williams scored on a two-yard run for the only score of the game for the Admirals but the extra point attempt failed.  

Clayton Sibley was four of five on extra points for the night for the Tigers.

Henderson led the Tigers in rushing with 98 yards on 13 carries. DeAndrea Harris had 11 receptions for 131 yards.

For the Admirals Malley completed eight of 16 passes for 97 yards with two interceptions. Williams had 25 carries for 52 yards and Jevon Floyd had four receptions for 60 yards.

For the Tiger defense, Tony Conner led the Tigers with eight tackles and two pass deflections. Craig Murphy had 11 tackles for the Admirals.
