Panola authorities are looking for the driver of a vehicle that killed a 51-year-old pedestrian near his home east of Como early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run incident.
Panola County Coroner Gracie Grant-Gulledge said that Johnny Lee Butts was killed along Highway 310 near Ebenezer Church, about five or six miles east of Como. She said that the impact apparently occurred around 6:30-7 a.m. Sunday morning.
Gulledge said that family members told her that Butts often took morning walks along the route.
“Ever who did this, we need to find them,” Grant-Gulledge said.
Panola Sheriff’s Department Investigator Bill McGee is investigating the hit-and-run. Anyone with information is urged to contact him by calling the sheriff’s department at 662-563-6230.
