Ejected player refused to leave field forcing Yankees to forfeit; Sox downs A’s

By Brad Greer

A controversial ending halted the 13-15 year-old American Legion baseball games Thursday night after a player refused to leave the playing field after being ejected from the contest.

The incident occurred during the second inning of the nightcap between the Royals and Yankees. With the Royals leading 5-0, a Yankees player was thrown out of the game for allegedly slamming down and kicking his helmet after being called out at third base. After the player refused to leave the field of play, the home plate umpire called a halt to the game while awarding the Royals a victory.
