BATESVILLE — Martha Whitten Buntin, age 72, died Monday morning April 16, 2012, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery, in Courtland. Reverend Reed Buntin Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home.
Buntin, born on October 23, 1939 to the late James “Buster” Bedford and Flemmie Gertrude James Whitten in Panola County, was retired from E.L. Garner Oil Company where she worked as a secretary. She was a member of Tocowa Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Jane Buntin; a son, Joseph Michael Buntin; and a brother, James Whitten.
She leaves her son, Al Darby of Batesville.

WATER VALLEY–William A. Fielder, 82, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi. He was the father of Pam Stafford of Batesville.
Born to the late Arthur L. and Mary D. Fielder, in Coffeeville, he was retired after being self-employed as a diesel mechanic and welder. He was also a cattle farmer and a member of the Mississippi Cattleman’s Association. Mr. Fielder attended Anchor Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday. at Anchor Baptist Church with Bro. Gerald Shook and Bro. Fish Robinson officiating. Burial was in Anchor Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home had charge.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Joseph Daniel Stafford.
Survivors along with his daughter, include his wife, Martha Ann Fielder of Water Valley; one son, Steve Fielder of Water Valley; daughter, Sondra Peters of Clarksville, Tenn.; one brother, Billy Dean Fielder of Coffeeville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren,

ENID–Arnold “A.J.” Jones, 53, died April 11, 2012 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services were Monday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park.
Jones, born November 11, 1959 in Charleston to the late Logon Jones and Lula Holley Jones, was a factory worker at Parker Hannifin. He enjoyed working on cars and fishing.
Survivors include two sons, Tracy Darby of Enid and Scott Respess of Courtland, and two grandchildren.
OXFORD– Simon Claude Taylor, 89, a retired machinist with Georgia Pacific, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Tallahatichie General Hospital in Charleston.
Funeral services were April 12 at the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. George Crowden officiating. Burial followed in Eastover Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Calhoun County, Taylor was a founding and charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He was a musician and enjoyed playing bluegrass music on several different instruments including his homemade fiddle. In 2001, he received a recognition plaque from Banner Bluegrass Festival.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy C. Taylor of Oxford; five daughters, Carol Duke of Hernando, Rachael Wiggins of Baton Rouge, La., Louise Cagle of Hernando, Elizabeth Young of Oxford and Nancy Priola of Big Sandy, Tenn.; one son, Gary Taylor of Sardis; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
