South Panola fastpitch team is gearing up for a weekend of action in the Clarkdale Spring Fling Tournament in Meridian at Northeast Ball Park.

The Lady Tigers will start the weekend against No. 4 nationally-ranked Newton County (4-0) today at 6:30 p.m. on Field 2.

The rest of the schedule will not get much easier for the Lady Tigers as they will face Germantown tonight at 8 p.m. on  Field 3. Tomorrow, they will play St. Patrick at 11:30 a.m. on  Field 2 and Poplarville at 2:30 p.m. on Field 2.

In more Lady Tiger news, South Panola’s fastpitch softball pitcher Nicole Fullilove was named one of the Girl Athletes of the Week in the Clarion-Ledger Tuesday.

The ninth grader pitched a five-hit shutout with six strikeouts and went 1-for-3 in a 2-0 win over Desoto Central  March 6.

The Lady Tigers are currently riding a 5-0 undefeated record.
