Shore Thing Charters booth will highlight North Miss. Sportsman Extravaganza this weekend

Two of Shore Thing Fishing Charters’ professional fishing guides will be in a attendance for the North Mississippi Sportsman Extravaganza on March 9 and 10.

Captains Matt Tusa and Sonny Schindler will be making the easy five-hour drive, from Bay St. Louis to the Batesville Civic Center. In the last year, the fishing company has been featured in local, statewide, national and international  publications and outdoor television shows.

The purpose of their visit is to inform patrons of the wonderful fishing opportunities the gulf coast holds. Fielding questions about charter packages, what they catch, and just “talking fishing,” will be their agenda for the two-day show.

Between the hundreds of pictures at their booth and the two full-time guides, all questions about fishing charters should be easily answered.

Capt. Sonny Schindler said, “We are really looking forward to this show, the majority of our customers are from central and northern Mississippi. People really enjoy coming to our area (coast) for the casinos and the beaches. When they find out they can do all that and go out with a first-class fishing operation, they get really excited.

“Most people have no clue that stellar catches of speckled trout, red fish, flounder and triple tail are just a few hours away,” Schindler continued.

Based out of Bay St. Louis, Shore Thing Charters has a near perfect location for inshore fishing.

Customers of Shore Thing are able to fish abundant man-made reefs, barrier islands and the bountiful Louisiana Marsh. All four of Shore Things 24-foot bay boats are licensed to fish in both Mississippi and Louisiana.

“We go where the fish are, some days the fish are minutes from the dock and some days we will run 30 miles to find the best bite,” said Capt. Matt Tusa.

With literally thousands of days on the water, all four of Shore Things guides work together to stay on the fish and keep their customers on the bite. Last year the guides put customers on company record catches of speckled trout, red fish, flounder, sheepshead, black drum and triple tail.

Shore Thing Fishing Charters was founded in 2002, and has expanded considerably over the years. Its reputation was established with six- to eight-hour trips to the Louisiana marsh. Healthy catches of speckled trout and red fish have kept its clients coming back for years and years. Now with four boats, a fleet of kayaks and a private water front dock, the guides are looking forward to 2012.

Shore Thing Charters new “Cat Island Experience” will surely draw the majority of the attention at their booth for the North Mississippi Sportsman Extravaganza. A 4,500-square-foot home on Cat Island is all the buzz for their one-of-a-kind all inclusive over night fishing packages.

“There is nothing like this anywhere in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Between the gourmet chef, the guided trips, the kayaking and night time flounder, you will never find a fishing get-away like this,” said Schindler.

Hours for the Extravanganza are Friday, 3-10 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information call Ken Williams at 934-9066 or visit the Web site nmssportsman.com.
