Sister  recalls loving care received by sibling at Quail Run facility

I would like the people of Batesville to know how blessed they are to have a great facility like Quail Run in their midst. Of course, it is because of the great people who supervise and the direct caregivers at Quail Run.

You are all heroes in my eyes.

It takes special people to care for the mentally challenged. They cared for my sister Brenda who had Downs Syndrome. She had a wonderful life because of those who cared for her. She got to do things and visit places that it would have been impossible for us to take her.

She was the perfect picture of unconditional love.  It’s sad to say that’s difficult to find in the world. She went to be with the Lord on February 27, 2011 at age 57.

She never let anyone forget her birthday. Our mother’s name was never far from her mind. I brought her home every two weeks for 20 years and a weekend didn’t go by without mentioning Mother. Coming home was the thing she looked forward to.

I know she is where she longed to be, with our mother.
