By Angie Ledbetter

Top senior football athletes are on stage tomorrow as many will sign National Letters of Intent to play football with the university or colleges.

During the past weekend players made their last official visits to college campuses before making final decisions.

South Panola’s Issac Gross, made a visit to the University of Southern Mississippi to check out their program even though he’s been verbally committed to Ole Miss since April.

Gross will make his final decision tomorrow at 9 a.m. as South Panola holds a ceremony in the media center for seven players that plan to sign.

Tiger head football coach Lance Pogue is excited about signing day.

“Right now we’ve got possibly four junior college signees and two or three to sign scholarships with four year colleges. We don’t have as many as last year but we didn’t have but a few seniors.”

As signing day arrives the 2011 Tiger football team had more great news.

Eighteen players made the honor roll this past nine weeks and 20 more were within a few points of being named to the roll.

Pogue said that was one of his goals when he came to South Panola.

“It’s a big honor for us academically and that’s another step in that direction,” Pogue said. “Obviously it’s an every day battle every school year and an ongoing process. We feel like we’ve made strides and continue to make them and we’re proud of that.”

North Panola

North Panola does not have anyone who will sign tomorrow even though Chris Conner said he received offers from Northeast and Holmes Community Colleges and Mississippi Valley State.
