LSU vs Tide; Ole Miss vs. MSU

Commentary by Myra Bean

Brad Greer came in the office Tuesday morning with his LSU hoodie covering his face. Everybody knows the story. Alabama shut out LSU, 21-0 in the BCS National Championship Bowl.

If all the naysayers had their way, Alabama would not even have been in the game because they did not win a conference championship.

The tension has not eased out of Brad’s demeanor yet. He is totally shocked by the play (or lack thereof) of his beloved Bayou Bengals but as I told him, they need some cowbells or some sort of noisemakers to relieve all of that tension.

He said they have 100,000 fans but if they had shaken it all out at the game or in front of the television then all that tension would be gone.

That is more than enough said on two teams that maybe 10 people in this county care about.

All-American

Alright, as you can see up top, national polls are still looking at the South Panola football team. It is a huge honor for a freshman to be noticed and to be named to the first team.

Congratulations, Ryan. We will be looking for you in the years to come.

Ole Miss vs. Miss. State

LOL! The Egg Bowl is still in progress. I do not know what else to call this billboard competition between the two schools.

It was one thing for Mississsippi State to put the “This is our State” billboards around the state, but to snub Ole Miss and put one in Oxford? Whoo Whee! Somebody’s upping the ante.

This is some serious stuff and has Facebookers going at it.

The Panola Dawgs found out there are some Miss. State alumni in Oxford so these billboards are only helping the cause and giving them a little support to recruit some good people from Rebel country.
