Issac Gross, 6A All-State Defensive Player of the Year

The MHSAA and MAIS coaches have released the list of football players selected for All-State honors.
From South Panola, Issac Gross was chosen the overall defensive player of the year for 6A.
Named on the first team offense was Tony Conner, running back and Sean Rogers, offensive lineman. Temario Strong and Kendall Carr were named to the first team defense as defensive linemen. On second team offense was Hunter Lawrence for full back.
In Division 1-6A Gross was named the Defensive Most Valuable Player and Conner the Co-Offensive Most Valuable Player.
Making the All Division 1-6A list are Lawrence, DaShawn Lindsay, Rogers, Lakedrick Flowers, Nick Johnson, Strong and Carr.
Head Coach Lance Pogue was extremely proud of all the players.
“It’s always a great honor for our players that make all state and all division and they’re well deserved. They’re all good kids with great families.
“It’s a credit to the respect our program has statewide and nationally,” Pogue added.
From North Delta, senior Blake Snyder was named to the MAIS second team offense as offensive lineman.
Senior defensive lineman Gross has been selected to play in the 2012 Under Armour All-American High School Football Game.
The fifth annual game will be played on Thursday, January 5 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. and will be televised live on ESPN at 7 p.m. central time.
