SP Tigers vs Horn Lake

It was a battle to the end between the South Panola Tigers and the Horn Lake Eagles Tuesday night in a non-district overtime game.
When the game ended, Horn Lake was the 54–50 winner.
The game was tied at 49 at the end of regulation.
It was a back-and-forth match with several lead changes. The Tigers led 46-41 with 2:27 left in the game as the Eagles staged a comeback to pull within one, 48-47, with 1:11 on the clock.
Tiger Myron Powell went to the free throw line making one of two shots giving the Tigers a 49-47 lead with 38 seconds left. With three seconds left Horn Lake’s Sebastian Petty’s basket sent the game into overtime.
With 3:56 on the clock the Tigers fouled and the Eagles took a 50-49 lead after Kajuan Vidal-Bruce hit one of two shots at the line. After South Panola missed a field goal and fouled, the Eagles went up 51-49 as Petty made one of two free throws. Bruce went back to the line also making one of two free throws with 2:51 left on the clock for an Eagle 52-49 lead.
The only score in overtime for the Tigers came when the Eagles fouled and sent Collins to the line where he made one of two free throws. The game was still within reach with a two point difference. With 11 seconds left the Tigers fouled Petty sending him to the line to make both shots to end the game.
James Watson led the Tigers with 16 points and one rebound. Other scorers include Oxcavious Poole, nine points; Jaylen Lee, nine points, eight rebounds; Powell, eight points; Harris, seven points; and Collins, one points.
The Tigers led 25-21 at the half but the Eagles took a 36-34 lead at the end of the third.
From the free throw line the Tigers shot 45 percent and had 26 turnovers. The Eagles shot 76 percent from the line.
The Tiger teams resume action Friday, January 6 hosting Grenada in district action at 5 p.m.
