Lady Tigers crushed by HL

It was not the way the South Panola Lady Tigers wanted to go into their Christmas break Tuesday night as they lost 60-44 to the No. 2 ranked Horn Lake Lady Eagles (8-0).

Senior point guard Christa Brown scored 28 points as leading scorer, pulled down four rebounds and had four steals. Chresha Brown added 10 points, two rebounds and two steals.

The Lady Eagles jumped to a 22-7 lead over the Lady Tigers after the first quarter and never looked back.

The Lady Eagles slowed the pace in the second quarter with 14 points. However, the Lady Tigers were still not making shots and only scored  three baskets and a three-pointer by Chresha Brown to be down 38-16 at the half.

Horn Lake increased the lead to 50-25 going into the fourth.

The Lady Tigers fought hard in the last quarter but it was not enough.

Crystal Contreras scored two points, had seven rebounds and one steal. Ty’Raven Collins added two points, three rebounds and three steals. Raven Brown finished scoring with two.

The Lady Tigers shot 47 percent from the free throw line and had 25 turnovers. The Lady Eagles went to the free throw line only six times hitting two of them. They had 20 turnovers. 

The Lady Eagles had three players that scored double digits, Savannah Kimmous 20 points, Jasmine Edwards, 14 and Brittani Biggins, 12.
