Conner receives All-American notice

Three members of the Northwest Mississippi Community College football team have been named to the 2011 NJCAA All-American Team, including freshman linebacker David Conner who was named honorable mention.

The three NJCAA All-American selections from Northwest are the most since the 2006 season.

Conner emerged as the Rangers’ leading tackler over the final three weeks of the season, finishing with three games of 10 or more tackles, including a career-high 16 in a win over Holmes.

A 5-foot-11, 190-pound product of South Panola High School and former Dandy Dozen selection by The Clarion-Ledger, Conner ended the year with 73 total tackles (35 solo), 4.0 tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks and three interceptions.

He is the first freshman to gain All-American honors since wide receiver John Harris back in 2002.
