Letter to the editor

‘You will have what you allow,’ reader warns

On reading all articles on this incident I am asking you to publish another. The 4th Amendment to our Constitution means that a person doesn’t have to respond to a police officer if said person hasn’t committed a crime.

Ridge Simmerman was in a store with two adults and several other youths. He never heard the officer speak to him and neither did those in his company.

Then, after the officer rudely spoke to Ridge, he handcuffed him behind his back, called in another police cruiser to carry him to jail, and did not even seatbelt him. That officer drove erratically to the police station, running stop signs  and red lights and throwing Ridge around the cruiser’s back seat.

If you believe these officers were right in their actions, would you feel any differently if your child/loved one was on the receiving end of this police brutality?

I have friends and family in law enforcement and I am NOT bashing police.

Why isn’t this community outraged at this?

Where are the voices of people who want trustworthiness, honesty, and caring in their officers?

People, you will have what you allow. Thank you for reading.
