Leon Bradley

BATESVILLE – Leon Bradley, 49, died Friday, October 21, 2011, at his residence.

Services were held Wednesday at Mt. Moriah C.M.E. Church in Como. Pastor Daniel Cooperwood officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.  Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Bradley, born April 30, 1969, in Como, to Ethel Burnette Bradley of Batesville and the late Roosevelt Bradley Sr. was a truck driver and a member of Ebenezer M.B. Church in Como.

Survivors along with  her mother include: three daughters, Tameka Marsha Fonville of Como,Yvette Shaun Adams and Shernique Andrea Adams, both of Horn Lake; one son, Zachary Jamal Adams of Horn Lake, four sisters, Chestine Bradley and Rose Marie Henderson, both of Memphis, Willa Baxer and Julia Flowers, both of Chicago; three brothers, James L. Bradley of Batesville, Bobby Bradley of Gulf Port and Wayne Bradley of Memphis and one grandchild.

Billie Burgin Crenshaw

CRENSHAW – Billie Burgin Crenshaw, 80, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at her residence.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Crenshaw United Methodist Church in Crenshaw. Burial will be in the family cemetery. Canale Funeral Home has charge.

Crenshaw, was born in Sardis on April 12, 1931, to Martha and Bryan Burgin. After her sons graduated from Ole Miss, she started selling her homemade cinnamon spiced pecans at tradeshows around the South.

What started as a hobby has grown into “Billie’s Pecans.”

Survivors include: her husband of 57 years, Bob Dodson Crenshaw, four sons, Hal Davidson Crenshaw, Bob Dodson Crenshaw Jr., James Bryan Crenshaw and Edwin Pratt Crenshaw and 14 grandchildren.
 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Crenshaw United Methodist Church, 216 Terry Ave., Crenshaw, Miss. 38621 or charity of the donor’s choice.

Shelia Renetha House

SARDIS – Shelia Renetha House, 32, died Monday, October 24, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Shiloh C.M.E. Church. Burial will be in Harmonia Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

House, born May 17, 1979, to Liston Ward of Sardis and the late Celestine House, attended North Panola High School and attended Harmonia M.B. Church. She worked for Motel 6 in Senatobia.

Survivors along with her father, include: one son, Robert Roberson of Sardis; one sister, Arnitta House of Como and one brother, Edward Earl House of Leakville.

Annie Mae Clark Hughery

BATESVILLE – Annie Mae Clark Hughery, 80, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Antioch M.B. Church in Courtland. Pastor Reginald Reed will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Antioch M.B. Church. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuay has charge.

Hughery, born April 19, 1931, to the late Sammie Clark and Annie Lee, was a cafeteria worker for South Panola High School and a member of Antioch M.B. Church.

Survivors include: one son, Alfred Hughery Jr. of Batesville; three sisters, Eddie Lois Clark and Myldred Lamberth, both of Batesville and one sister, Willie Lee Johnson of Detroit, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Harold F. Parrish

WALLS – Harold F. “Freddy” Parrish, 69, formerly of Sledge, died Monday, October 24, 2011, at Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Lee Smith will officiate. Visitation will begin at noon prior to services. Burial will be in Longtown Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Parrish, born Aug. 19, 1942, in Sledge, to the late Bilbo and Bertha Elizabeth Tutor Parrish, was a retired iron worker. He was a member of New Life Ministries Church in Olive Branch.

Survivors include: his wife, Edna Suzanne Littlejohn Parrish of Walls; one daughter, Sonya Ruth Parrish Benson of Horn Lake; one son, Bryan Michael Parrish of Nesbit; one step-daughter, Alice Marie Forsyth Swilley of Olive Branch; one step-son, Richard Gates Forsyth of Oakland, Tenn.; step-mother, Earline Parrish of Tunica; four sisters, Billie Parrish Jones of Crenshaw, Shirley Parrish Hudspeth of Tunica, Donna Parrish Wimberly of Sledge, Wanda Parrish Welch of Laurel; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Peggy Jean Burkes Thompson

POPE – Peggy Jean Burkes Thompson, 64, died October 26, 2011, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Pope Baptist Church. Burial will be in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

She was a member of Pope Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Margo Bailey and her husband, Jeff of Pope, Lisa Lowrey  and her husband Seth of Lebanon, Tenn.; two brothers, Jerry Burkes and his wife, Bonnie, and Bob Burkes and his wife, Claudia, all of Batesville; seven grandchildren, Annah Bailey, Amelia Bailey, Keelan Lowrey, Kyleigh Lowrey, Kee’dance Lowrey, Kambryn Lowrey and Kohmin Lowrey.

The family requests memorial contributions be sent to Pope Baptist Church Youth, P.O. Box 34, Pope, Miss. 38658.

Phillip “Phil” Allen Williford

POPE – Mr. Phillip “Phil” Allen Williford, 64, died on Friday, October 21, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, October 25, at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Dickins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Williford enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his son, Charles “Al” Williford of Cordova, Tenn.; one sister, Sandra Joiner of Louisiana; one brother, Clinton Burns of Oakland and three grandchildren.
