Election special section

A pre-election special section is included inside today’s Panolian to help voters select candidates in the Nov. 8 General Election.
The Nov. 8 ballot will include county races for sheriff and circuit clerk among others, and elections for state Senate and state House.
The special section also includes a sample ballot.
Among other races, Sheriff Otis Griffin answered questions about untrained jailers, the cost of housing federal inmates, and his stated plan to post a deputy at the courthouse in Sardis,
Chancery Clerk Jim Pitcock answered a pressing question — why did he switch from the Democratic Party to the Independent Party?
The three candidates seeking the circuit clerk’s office were asked how they plan to deal with ongoing election problems if elected.
Candidates for supervisor were not included, since The Panolian published a supervisor-only election section before the August primary.
The Republican and Democratic candidates seeking the House and Senate seats answered a single question — why should you be elected?
