The South Panola Tigers defeated the Memphis University Owls 19-7 Friday night for their first home game.
Tiger athlete Tony Conner set the moment returning the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown with 13 seconds off the clock. Clayton Sibley’s PAT (point after touchdown) gave the Tigers a 7-0 lead.
Conner scored again from two yards out with 37 seconds left in the same quarter. The missed PAT left the Tigers with a 13-0 lead.
The final score for the Tigers came at the 7:25 mark in the second quarter when Ladarius Strong scored on an 11-yard touchdown run but the two-point attempt failed.
The Owls got on the board with 7:23 in the fourth when Jordan Roberson connected with Fernando Van Hook and the PAT was good.
The Tigers ended the game with 205 yards rushing and 54 passing while the Owls had 11 yards rushing and 132 yards passing.
Conner rushed for 19 times for 81 yards while Quandez Lee rushed for 12 times for 75 yards. Strong had 51 yards on 10 carries.
Issac Gross led the defense with seven tackles and one sack. Temario Strong had four with one sack.
