BATESVILLE – Allie Seale Craig, 101, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Golden Living Center.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Rev. Pat Ludlam and Ed Woodall will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
Craig was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 88 years. She married O.J. Craig, a civil engineer, in 1937, and traveled with him on professional jobs from Texas to Rhode Island before becoming permanent residents of Batesville in 1952.
She was  preceded in death by her parents, James and Ida Seale and her husband.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat Scarborough; two grandchildren, Craig Foote and Lynn Gray; two great-grandchildren, Shannon Sabori and Sean Sundstrom; one great-great grandchild, Jade Allie Craig.

COMO – William Robert Giles, 89, died August 22, 2011, at his residence.
Services were held Thursday, August 25, at Solid Rock Assembly of God Church in Senatobia with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home of Senatobia was in charge of arrangements.
Giles was a member of Solid Rock Assembly of God in Senatobia and a World War II veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He worked for over 50 years with Choctaw where he was the inventor of the Giles Band. He was very active in his community where he built over 25 homes.
He served with Habitat for Humanity, was co-founder of the Lord’s Clothes Closet and a Rotarian for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Marie Giles.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Marie Giles Kelley of Whiteville, Tenn., Virginia Iris Giles Holloway and Jeanine Giles Hendrix, both of Como; one son, Curtis Michael Medlock of Como; one sister, Earlene Moore of Rafia, Okla.; one brother Ray Giles of Arlington, Tenn.; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

COMO – Jerry Golden died Thursday, August 18, 2011, at his residence in a house fire.  He was 48.
Graveside services were held Sunday, August 21, at Askew Grove Cemetery.  Pastor Chris Conner officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Golden was born September 6, 1962, in Como, to Willie Golden and Erma Jean Walton.  He attended North Panola High School.
Survivors include three sisters, Dorothy Burdette of Sardis, Shirley Golden of Longtown and Mae Douglass of Southaven; and two brothers, James Golden and Edward Golden, both of Longtown.

BATESVILLE – Jasron Deshae Johnson died Friday, August 19, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center. He was 27.
    Services will be held Saturday, August 26, at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel with internment at West Camp M.B. Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor L.C. Smith will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
 Johnson was born July 29, 1984 in Batesville, to Jeffery Shegog of Tampa, Fla. and Martha Johnson Cole of Batesville.
 He attended South Panola High School. Johnson worked in maintenance and was a member of Olive Ray M. B. Church.
    Survivors, in addition to his parents include, his stepfather,  James Cole, Jr.; grandparents, Crystal Cole of Courtland and Margaret Cosby and James Cosby of Enid; three brothers, James Cole of Batesville, Thomas Shegog of Tampa, Fla. and Marcus Buckley of Chicago, Ill. and seven sisters, Shanese Boyd of West, Va., Taylor Shegog of Tampa, Fla., Brittany Jones of Senatobia, Celeste Cole of Oxford, Chandrica Cole, Vetorra Cole and Shameshia Archer, all of Batesville.

  MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Willie Frank “Duke” Oliver, 58, formerly of Batesville, died Friday, August 5, 2011, in Milwaukee.
Services were held Saturday, August 13, at El Bethel Church of God in Christ in Milwaukee. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery. Elder Joel Kinlow officiated.
Oliver was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest M.B. Church in Batesville. He received his education at Patton Lane High School. He was a carpenter.
Survivors include: his mother, Marie Oliver of Batesville; his wife, Peggie Oliver of Milwaukee; two daughters, Aviance “Abby” Brown and Lindsay “Lynn” Oliver of Milwaukee; four sisters, Mary Jones of St. Louis, Patsy Pearson of Davenport, Iowa, Annette Bibbs and Frances Rudd of Batesville; one brother, Dennis Oliver of Batesville and five grandchildren.

DENVER, Colo. – Christopher Randall Robinson, 29, formerly of Pleasant Grove, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, at University Hospital in Denver.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 24, at Peach Creek Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 3 p.m. and memorial services starting at 4 p.m.
Robinson, born Feb. 28, 1982, in Jackson, Tenn., to William “Bill” Robinson and Deborah Fitts Robinson of Pleasant Grove, attended Northwest Mississippi Home Educators. He worked for Ninja Traders in Denver.
On September 17, 2009, Robinson received a double lung transplant and was given the name, “The Rock Star of Transplants” by Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Survivors along with his parents include: two brothers, Paxton Fitts of Ruleville, Jon Robinson of Pleasant Grove; three sisters, Brooke Wheeler, Hannah Robinson, both of Pleasant Grove and Lisa LeClair of Seattle and his grandparents, Jim and Jean Fitts of Pleasant Grove and Charles Robinson of Tennessee.
