End of Summer Activities
As the month of August gets underway, school starts and summer activities begin to slow. Enid Lake Personnel would like to remind all visitors to be aware of school buses that will be traveling around the rural roads as well as the main highways. Buses will be on the roads mornings and afternoons as well as weeknights while traveling to and from athletic events.
August is also the time when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Enid Lake begins the annual draw down of the lake in hopes of reaching conservation pool of 230 feet above mean sea level (M.S.L) by December 1. The lake level at Enid is currently 249.37feet above M.S.L with the gates opened a total of one half foot. The outlet channel provides anglers another chance to land the popular flathead, and channel catfish and also provides a place to catch crappie, bass, and bream.
Watermelon Carnival
The Enid Lake Volunteers For Waste Management and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers will participate in the Annual Water Valley Watermelon Carnival scheduled for August 5 and 6 in Water Valley.
The Enid Lake Volunteers for Waste Management will focus on informing the public of the Annual Clean Up Day, which is scheduled for February 25, 2012; while park rangers concentrate on water safety and the upcoming events scheduled to be held at Enid Lake.
These events included Physically Challenged Fishing Day scheduled for September 10, National Hunting and Fishing Day scheduled for September 24, Springdale Wildlife Management Area Special Deer Hunt scheduled for October 21 – November, 6, Habitat Day scheduled for February 4, 2012, and Springdale Wildlife Management Area Special Turkey Hunt scheduled for March 3-24.
