North Delta football starts fall practice

The North Delta football team started fall practice last Monday with approximately 30 players.

Third year head coach Dan Werner welcomed the players after a summer long slate of conditioning workouts.

The Green Wave will open the season Friday, August 19 on the road to Lee Academy in Clarksdale. The home opener will be August 26 against former district foe West Memphis.

North Delta will host “Meet the Waves” Thursday night at 6 p.m. in the gym. The Green Wave will travel to Greenwood Friday for a scrimmage with Pillow Academy at 4 p.m.

Werner said if the temperatures remain too high, the time will be backed up.

On Thursday, August 11, North Delta will host a jamboree with six other teams beginning at 6 p.m. New rules for jamborees have been established by the MAIS (Miss. Association of Independent Schools) Athletics and Activities Commission that limits each school to only two quarters in a jamboree.

Teams that field A and B teams, the players are limited to playing only two quarters in the jamboree.
