J. P. Hudson Memorial Park has its annual Dizzy Dean Bash lined up for this weekend of baseball and softball action.
Forty-five teams will compete in nine age groups. The 9-year-old baseball started last night.
Batesville All-Star teams will compete in each age group. The 7 and under girls will compete in the 8 and under age division. Each team has 10 players so approximately 450 children of various age groups from around north Mississippi will be in Batesville this weekend.
J. P. Hudson will also host the North State Tournament July 7-10. Ages 6 and under, 8 and under and 10 and under will play at J. P. Hudson. The upper ages, 12 and under, 14 and under and 16 and under, will play at Trussell Park that weekend.
Batesville has teams in all age groups except 16 and under.
The weekend schedule can be found on page A13. Weekend weather report calls for scattered showers throughout the weekend with the temperature in the upper 80s and lower 90s and 40 to 50 percent chance of rain daily.
