Sixty-one members of South Panola High School’s 21+ Club and their parents were honored with a breakfast in the school’s library Wednesday morning when the district’s school board president Lygunnah Bean challenged them to tell others about, “. . . the tools you took to the ACT.”
The group consists of students who scored 21 or higher on the American College Test. Activities Director Kaye Smythe explained that former principal Gerald Loden started the club and that current principal Jay Foster had put additional emphasis on the organization.
Foster has emphasized the importance of the ACT since taking the helm at the high school, stating that it may be the most important test a student ever takes. He earlier explained to school board members that the test may well determine if a student is going to college, what college a student might choose and how much financial assistance and other opportunities a student might receive.
Foster welcomed students and parents along with district superintendent Dr. Keith Shaffer who offered his support to the program.
