Lady Tigers sponsor 3rd annual SOFC

The South Panola Lady Tigers fastpitch softball team is gearing up for its third annual Strike Out For Cancer (SOFC) home-and-home games with Grenada.

The first game will be in Grenada Tuesday at 5 p.m. with the junior varsity, followed by the varsity at 6 p.m. South Panola will host its game Thursday, April 14.

Each team takes on the responsibility of getting sponsors for the players, selling t-shirts, luminaries and, this year, bracelets. The proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

The teams also pick a cancer patient from their community to aid with the proceeds from admissions and the concession stand. This year the Lady Tigers chose Angie Ledbetter, a nine-year cancer patient.

Ledbetter’s story will follow at a later date.

Sponsorship for a team member is $25 for one person and $20 for each additional player.

Luminaries may be purchased In Honor or In Memory of someone for $3.

The luminaries will be lit before games and remain lit during the games weather permitting. The name in which the luminary was purchased will be on the side of the luminary.

The SOFC bracelet is also $3. T-shirts are $15.

All orders are due by Monday, March 28. See any ball player or call coach Ashleigh Hicks at (662) 563-4756.
