Seeks credit for garbage pickups missed during snow

A lot of people did not have their garbage picked up on January 10 (and maybe other days) because of the snow. That did not stop the county from charging customers for that week.

When I called the Batesville Courthouse to get credit for that week, I was told that they are not giving credit to anybody, because they can’t control the weather. They did not want to get their garbage trucks on the road.

I can understand that, but I can’t control the weather either. After much discussion with whoever answered the phone, I was told that I could talk to the county administrator, Kelley Magee. I have gotten her voice mail every time I call.

I am paying for a weekly service and I did not receive the service (nor did a lot of other people). Since the county cleared some roads Tuesday, January 11, garbage trucks could have picked up on those roads.

Garbage pickup was not a choice for county residents, it was mandatory. If the county is going to provide a weekly garbage pick-up, they need to do just that or not charge. The weekly fee is not that much, but it is the principle.

How many more times is this going to happen? With all this extra money the county is receiving, the county roads should be in better condition (but that is another story.)

If anyone else is tired of how the county treats residents, call the county administrator.
